My name is Matthieu Bonin. This July 2022 I will be attempting to swim 350km in lake Huron around Manitoulin Island. Why?! Why would I dedicate my summer to swim in this cold, dangerous, turbulent and unpredictable water. I am swimming to raise funds and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis research.
I swim to honor the memory of my Aunt Claire Poirier who passed away from this illness.
I swim to bring hope to the people who are suffering from this illness, and to their loved ones. With my courage, I want to highlight theirs.
I swim with the hope that one day it will lead to a cure. Believing something is possible is the first step in achieving it. If someone who could not swim 50m and who was out of shape can be the first to swim 350km around Manitoulin island, then why not a cure for M.S.?
Thank you for your generous support!
Canada has the highest rate of MS in the world.
It’s true – 100 000 Canadians live with MS. Having multiple sclerosis means that one morning you may not be able to walk when you wake up. Or that you may suddenly have impaired vision. Or that your memory will fail you for no apparent reason. The symptoms of MS are many and vary for everyone.
I’m taking the challenge to help the MS Society fund research, advocate for change, and help people with MS and their families. Proceeds from my campaign and others like it provide support and services to help those living with this disease, their families and caregivers. They also fund research with three primary goals: to find a cause and cure for MS, repair nervous system damage caused by MS and stop MS attacks. By supporting me, you too can make a difference in the life of someone with multiple sclerosis.
I am doing whatever it takes in the fight to end MS. Will you join me?
